A showcase for mobile solutions delivering efficiency gains for the NHS
The mobile solutions village was a showcase for mobile solutions for the NHS – all in one place. It brought together leading organisations with teams focused on delivering value to their customers across the NHS.
Free customer showcase seminars took place at EHI Live 2010
Investment in mobile solutions is increasingly being seen as central in delivering much needed efficiencies. Seminars delivered by NHS management showcased how this is being achieved.
Sessions included:
"Cutting waiting times and reducing ‘did not attends’ by 40%"
Mandy Mugridge, Project Manager Outpatients, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS trust
Portsmouth has reduced Did Not Attend Rates (DNAs) by nearly 40% and cut outpatient waiting times following the introduction of a Trust-wide interactive patient messaging service. If the success of the first three months (May-July 2010) continues throughout the year, the Trust will generate between 7,000 and 9,000 extra outpatient appointments – potentially worth more than £1million in Payment by Results income. This seminar explains how the trust achieved this and includes an interactive demo.

‘Paper-light’ solutions for community workers – Increasing efficiency across community care teams.
Paul Chapman, Clinical Lead for Information Technology, Rotherham Community Health Services
As the NHS faces up to the challenge of delivering more services closer to the home in a tight fiscal climate, the way community services are structured and supported will be key. Like solutions which enable patient information to be captured digitally at the point of care. This removes the need for double-entry of data and reduces the need to travel back to base. This seminar sets out the NHS Rotherham journey; how they have worked with their District Nursing, School Nursing, Domiciliary Physio and Intermediate Care teams to deliver sustainable benefits.
