Conference programme

EHI Live 2010 was the first major health IT gathering since the coalition government took office and the first opportunity to discuss the major changes and challenges that lie ahead.

Our conference offered a blend of top speakers, hot topics and informed discussion of the issues that matter in healthcare information technology.

A cost-effective way to keep up to date on the essential agenda items facing health information professionals, the conference was entertaining, amusing and thought-provoking.

Our four subject streams were:

The Big Picture
High profile speakers explore the big issues. The line-up included:
Simon Burns MP, Minister of State for Health
Christine Connelly, Director General of Informatics, Department of Health;
Tom Steinberg, founder of mysociety.org and member of the government’s newPublic Sector Transparency Board and
Professor Trisha Greenhalgh, author of newly-published research on the Summary Care Record.

Connect All
Continuing the theme of interoperability from 2009's conference, this stream looked at advances and good practice in information sharing.

Hot Topics
What’s new? What’s jumping? This stream included speakers with firsthand experience of implementing new systems in their trusts; an update on new regulation for healthcare software and the joint leader of an IT service that spans the NHS and local government.

Business Essentials
A fresh look at the vital business issues in health informatics. Topics included: managing your team; infrastructure; sustainability and information governance.
